What is this workshop about?
In the end, all acting comes from the brain.
Join Amy and Andrew as they take you through a warmup of physical and emotional exercises designed to put your actor’s brain into a state of flow.
You and a partner will then have a 30-minute slot to perform and rehearse a two-person scene of your choosing. In this session, Andrew and Amy will give you exercises that will focus your senses, engage your body, and challenge you in new ways. You are certain to get practical tools that you can apply in any future performance situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. You sign up for either the morning or the afternoon session.
Either way works–you can sign up with a friend, or we can assign you a partner.
The fee is per person.
Either is fine. There will be a piano and Andrew can play for you if you decide to do a scene from a musical. All we ask is that there be at least some text-based element to your scene. That could mean doing a scene into a song, or doing a section of a through-sung musical (i.e., Hadestown, Les Miz, etc.)
In order to allow time for us to work with you, 3-4 minutes is probably the sweet spot, with 5 minutes being the maximum.
Yes, if you can let us know a week before the class what you intend to work on, that will give us time to familiarize ourselves with the play.
Sure. We will have a tripod with us that you can use to record your session on your device.
Absolutely. Amy will provide you with a digital folder with a selection of scenes, and Andrew can advise you if you want to do a scene from a musical.
If you cancel on or before 6/8/24, you can get a full refund. Any cancellations after that date will not be refunded.
Yes you can! It’s $40 to audit, and you can sign up below.
