Level Three Pre-Game Course

Welcome to the Singing Athlete Level Three Pre-Game Course — your essential preparation for the in-person three-day Level Three Certification.

Level Three is designed to expand the maps you built in Levels One and Two, improve your understanding of how the limbs influence vocal performance, and give you the neuromechanical background needed to move confidently through the material we’ll explore together live.

Level Three will take you into material you may not have covered before. Very little of this is in the book, and most of these muscle and joint actions may be unfamiliar. This Pre-Game ensures you arrive with shared language, refreshed concepts, and a strong foundation so our in-person time can be maximally hands-on, practical, and transformative.

Pre-Game Videos:

The first four units — Intro & Review, Lower Extremity, Upper Extremity, and Neuromechanics — are where you should start. They will help you grasp key principles, clarify anatomical and neuromechanical relationships, and strengthen your ability to make precision coaching decisions.

They are organized as follows:

  • Intro and Review
  • Lower Extremity
  • Upper Extremity
  • Neuromechanics

This is the order we’ll be doing in class, so I’d recommend moving through them in order.

Muscle and Joint Actions:

I’ve expanded the Level Three Pre-Game to include 45 short videos, each focused on a single joint action. These are intentionally brief (most under a minute) and are designed to give you:

  • Clear visual examples of every joint action we’ll be training in class
  • A layered approach to muscle position so you can conceptualize the movements correctly
  • Faster recall when we start layering movements into assessments and drills

You’ll find these videos organized by body area — feet/ankles/knees/hips, torso and shoulders, and elbows/wrists/hands — so you can move through them in a logical flow or revisit specific areas as needed.

You’ll also find here a handy chart of the muscles, their actions, and their associated drills (called “Master Muscle List.”)

Testing:

Since the material in Level Three moves beyond what is covered in the book, the testing for this level is drawn exclusively from these pre-game videos.

There are five tests, ranging from 22 to 45 questions.

Tests 1-4 are drawn from the respective videos and Powerpoint presentations of the first four video lessons.

Test 5 is a summation of the Muscle Videos—there is one test question per joint action video, so I’d recommend opening the test in a new tab, watching a video, and then answering that question.
